Question of Obama's Patriotism

A reporter for the ABC affiliate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, noticed something missing from Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama's lapel.

the Illinois senator answered the question at length, explaining that he no longer wears such a pin, at least in part, because of the Iraq War.

"You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin," Obama said. "Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest.

"Instead," he said, "I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism." [1]


But - it seems the pin is mysteriously for some reason back!

 

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. -- United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171 [2].

Obama has stated, "There's always some nonsense going on in general elections. Right? If it wasn't this, it would be something else. If you recall, first it was my name. Right? That was a problem. And then there was the Muslim e-mail thing and that hasn't worked out so well, and now it's the patriotism thing." [3]

"The way I will respond to it is with the truth: that I owe everything I am to this country." Obama went on to say, "Michelle, had already explained her comments. "She simply misspoke," he said. "What she was referring to was this was the first time she has been proud of politics in America." And, please see the video of Michelle Obama saying she has not been proud of her country until now:
